The House in the Cerulean Sea

It's never too late to follow the dream

About T J Klune:

He is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. He is also a Lambda Literary Award-winning author and an ex-claims examiner for an insurance company. He describes himself as queer and as such likes to have accurate and positive representations of queer folk in his literature.

My Impressions:

This was the first book read in a newly formed book club with my very dear friend, Maria. It was her choiceof book.

It is written for all those people who want to escape to another world where everyone is accepted - 'warts en all'! It contrasts brilliantly with the mundane world where individuals just become a cog in the wheel of bureaucracy.

This book taught me to constantly reflect on life rather than living a treadmill existence of just being on soul-sucking autopilot.

My favorite quote:

".... listen instead of judging that which you don't understand." (p.326)

If you enjoyed this, you may enjoy my other book impressions.
